CAR Sierra Nevada has been during the last 12 months a meeting point for the best athletes of the world, who were preparing themselves for the recent Olympic Games, which took place in Rio de Janeiro.
These Olympic Games have brought to our athletes dozens of successes, turned in many occasions into so desired Olympic medals. In total, it has been 33 prizes built up in CAR Sierra Nevada, 11 of them – gold.
Swimming, as the most successful category among the athletes that have prepared themselves for the most prestigious competition of the world at CAR Sierra Nevada, is followed by cycling, rowing, canoeing as the ones with most number of medals, coming next wrestling and athletics, which also has joined that chain of triumphs.
Swimmers that stopped over in CAR Sierra Nevada (CSD), have conquered a total of 15 medals, 4 golds, won by Mireia Belmonte in 200 metre butterfly, Hagino Kosuke in 400 individual medley, Sara Sjostrom in 100 metre butterfly and Gregorio Paltrinieri in 1500 metre freestyle.
Rowing sums up 8 medals, 4 of them gold ones, which belong to British men´s squad coxless 4 and coxless 8, Polish women double sculls and Dutch LWT double sculls.
Furthermore, cycling has gained 5 prizes in categories road and mountain racing. The gold medals winners were Swedish cyclist Jenny Rissveds, and Dutch mountian cyclist Anna Van Der Breggen.
Additionally, canoeing has added 1 gold Olympic medal which came from Spaniard Marcus Walz.
This list comes to an end with wrestling and athletics, with one gold medal each one.
