Last October the Higher Council of Sport made public the list of called in 2016 to join the Sport Merit Order. CAR Sierra Nevada was awarded with Bronze Plaque in recognition of its invaluable contribution to spanish elitte sport.
This award is used to be given to Corporations, Federations, Clubs or Sport Association and also to to State Institutions or private companies for their management, organization, promotion, investigation and development of Physical Education and Sport being essential in education and comprehensive development of a person.
Award ceremony will take place on November 15th, in Reina Sofía Museum of Madrid.
Together with CAR Sierra Nevada the athletes such as Carolina Marín, Maialen Chourraut, Lydia Valentín, Elena Congost, Marcus Cooper, Cristian Toro, Marc López, José Manuel Calderón and Israel Oliver are going to be awarded with Gold Medal.
Technicians Miguel García (canoeing), Frederick Vergnoux (swimming), Juan Carlos Álvarez (athletics), Lucas Mondelo (basketball), Fernando Rivas (badminton), Francisco de Benito (Ortega y Gasset Secondary School) and Fernando Gutiérrez (futsal) are also going to be awarded.
